In game 5 of the Celtics-Heat series, Paul Pierce hit this unbelievably clutch 3-point shot in Lebron James’ eye.  It won the game for the Celtics.  But it’s not just the shot that I thought was huge.  It was also what Paul said as he headed back to the bench after making it.

It’s hard to tell from the video, but someone sitting close to the Celtics bench said that Paul was saying,

” I have the balls to take that shot.  I have the balls to take that shot.”

And I love that.  And it made me think that if you’re going to have an impact on this crazy world (especially as a part of a start-up), you should end every day with the ability to say that.

I had the balls to [do that thing].  Not many people would have had the balls to do that, but I did.  I had the balls to [do that thing].

Because people with balls win more than they lose.  And even when they do lose….they feel better about themselves in their loss than most feel in their wins.
